Washington: A Life (Ron Chernow, Penguin Press HC, 2010, 904 pages)

A tremendous biography.  Drawing on an "explosion of research" and fresh resources, Chernow humanizes Washington while reminding readers why Washington was the greatest of the Founding Fathers.
